The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) became law in 1993. Since that
time, employers have been faced with new challenges balancing the
demands of the workplace and needs of families. This presentation
will focus on FMLA regulations, standards and changes covering FMLA
law. In addition, an overview will be provided of important legal
issues and trends in the New York State Worker’s Compensation
system.
Joel J. Greenwald, Esq, – Mr. Greenwald is the founder of
the employment and labor law firm of Joel Greenwald & Associates,
P.C., which has offices located in New York and New Jersey. He has
extensive experience consulting and representing businesses on various
employment law issues. He has for example, defended clients against
claims arising from sexual harassment, all forms of employment discrimination,
wage and hour violations, leaves of absence, trade secret theft
and restrictive covenant enforcement. Mr. Greenwald has years of
experience litigating before arbitrators, mediators, and federal
and state courts. He counsels clients in both avoiding employment
claims and in crisis management. He also conducts frequent in-house,
interactive training seminars on various workplace legal issues.
Mr. Greenwald is a frequently requested author and speaker on a
wide variety of employment and labor law topics. He educates businesses
on employment law issues through national and regional public forums.
Mr. Greenwald is also a regular, featured columnist in several national
and regional trade publications and business journals. Mr. Greenwald
received his law degree from Duke University and his undergraduate
degree from Johns Hopkins University.
